Municipal Electric Utilities Across the United States

November 15, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

LeAnne Sinclair, Director of Customer Programs for the American Public Power Association, will be the next featured speaker in Decorah Power’s fall Learning Series. Her presentation, “Municipal Electric Utilities Across the United States:  Trends, Case Studies and Mythbusting,” will be offered Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at Luther College in Valders 362 and again Wednesday, November 15, at a 12:00 noon brownbag at City Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

Headquartered near Washington, D.C., the American Public Power Association is the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. The Association represents public power before the federal government to protect the interests of the more than

49 million people that public power utilities serve, and the 93,000 people they employ, by advocating and advising on electricity policy, technology, trends, training, and operations.

As the Association’s Director of Customer Programs, LeAnne Sinclair directs initiatives to help utilities, communities and other stakeholders understand and evaluate the value of public power in sellout/buyout and municipalization situations. For the past 13 years, she has also organized and overseen educational content and programming for public power utility members to help electric industry employees stay abreast of rapidly evolving technologies, regulation, and customer needs.
